deBreij B.V. respects your privacy and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. deBreij B.V. is the controller in the meaning of the GDPR and is established at Koningslaan 33, 1075 AB Amsterdam and can be contacted by telephone on: +31(0)20 572 78 00: +31(0)20 572 78 00.

This Privacy Statement applies to all persons whose personal data deBreij processes, with the exception of persons employed by deBreij.

Use of personal data:

deBreij may use your personal data for the following purposes:

- the provision of legal services, including the performance of a contract, the conducting of legal proceedings, and other services;

- the collection of fee statements;

- advising, mediating and referring;

- marketing and communication purposes;

- compliance with our statutory obligations; and/or;

- job application procedures (if the job application does not result in an employment contract we will remove the personal data within 4 weeks after the job application procedure has ended).

Processing of personal data:

deBreij B.V. processes the following (types or categories of) personal data:

- Personal data for the purpose of the provision of services, or provided by the data subject on his/her own initiative and obtained in the context of the provision of services:

- contact details and other personal data necessary for handling files;

- contact details provided during introductory meetings, events, seminars, etc., such as details recorded on business cards.

Personal data obtained from other sources:

- personal data obtained from the Commercial Register of the Chamber of Commerce and from the Land Registry; and

- personal data available on public websites.

We process personal data on the basis of one of the following legal grounds:

- your consent;

- a contract, or where there is an intention to enter into a contract;

- a statutory obligation; or

- in connection with a legitimate interest (such as invitations for events or seminars).

Sharing of personal data with third parties:

deBreij B.V. will only share your personal data with third parties in so far as necessary for the provision of services and with due observance of the aforementioned purposes. Situations in which this may apply include, for example, where another attorney temporarily conducts the practice, where an expert investigation is carried out, or where another third party is engaged on behalf and on the instructions of deBreij B.V., such as an IT supplier, as well as when your personal data are provided in connection with (judicial or extrajudicial) proceedings or in correspondence with the other party. In addition, deBreij B.V. may provide personal data to a third party, such as a supervisory authority or another public authority, in so far as there is a legal obligation to do so.

A data processing agreement will be concluded with the third party that processes your personal data on behalf and on the instructions of deBreij B.V., by virtue of which that third party will also be obliged to comply with the GDPR. Third parties engaged by deBreij B.V. that offer services as controllers are themselves responsible for compliance with the GDPR regarding the (further) processing of your personal data. Such parties may include, for example, accountants, civil-law notaries, or other third parties engaged for the purpose of a second opinion or an expert report.

Security of personal data:

deBreij B.V. attaches great importance to the security and protection of your personal data and, taking into account the state of the art, implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk.

Retention period for personal data:

In principle, deBreij B.V. will retain personal data that are processed for no longer than is necessary for the aforementioned purposes of the data processing or is required pursuant to legislation and regulations.

Privacy rights of data subjects:

You may retrieve your data, have these corrected or - where we are not subject to a statutory duty to retain the data - have these erased at any time. For this, please contact:
